The Community Development Coordinator (CDC) will work as a community representative of the Central Park neighbourhood. The CDC will report to the Executive Director. The CDC will seek to objectively balance the needs of the agency, community organizations, local residents, board of directors, and relevant government funders. The position is a one-year contract with the possibility of extension based on funding availability. Following a six-month probationary period, the position can be offered on a permanent full-time basis for the remainder of the contract year.

Qualifications
- Knowledge of community assets, organizations and issues in the Central Park neighbourhood
- Strong ability to work with diverse groups; Experience in conflict mediation, management, negotiation and confidentiality
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; Knowledge of an additional language representative of community demographics an asset
- Knowledge of formal and informal political processes related to community development including those in housing, education, safety
- Ability to synthesize, organize, and analyze relevant information; Ability to accurately define and effectively address community concerns as they arise
- Ability and experience preparing budgets, grants and funding proposals
- Driven to achieve realistic goals/tasks in a timely and efficient manner; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work independently
- Strong computer skills; Working experience with Windows XP and Microsoft Office applications; Operational knowledge of office equipment (fax, photocopier)
- Post-Secondary degree in Social Sciences preferred OR combination of PLRA and relevant work experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years related experience in community advocacy/work
Compensation:
Starting Salary $40,000 per annum
