Summary
The Researcher conducts local labour market, demographic and policy research assisting the LEF Research Dept. with dissemination through reports and recommendations. The Researcher reports to the Community Development Coordinator, Research Dept.
This is a 24-week position combining work experience, training and supports. Applicants must be 15-30 years of age and meet eligibility criteria.
The Researcher position will include the following tasks:
- Investigation, analysis and compilation of data pertaining to relevant or assigned local community trends, issues, activities, organizations and groups
- Assisting in the development, implementation and modification of internal tools and systems for data collection
- Conducting informational interviews with LEF staff
- Retrieve and compile database information for research projects
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Experience in community-based or asset mapping
- Excellent writing skills
- Able to multi-task
- Strong computer skills (MS Office application)
- Database management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of LEF’s programs and services an asset
- Experience in a not-for–profit environment an asset
- Able to work as a member of a team
- Able to relate to different socio-economic and cultural groups
Eligibility Criteria:
Between the ages of 15 to 30, legally entitled to work in Canada, out of school, not receiving EI benefits, in need of assistance to overcome employment barriers
Duration: Oct. 18, 2010 to March 31, 2010
