Summary

The Administrative Assistant provides excellent customer service and administrative support in a fast-paced environment to ensure that Skills Advancement Dept. operations are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner.

This is a 24-week position combining work experience, training and supports. Applicants must be 15-30 years of age and meet eligibility criteria.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist visitors, answer phones, direct calls and respond to inquiries
  • General office duties (fax, photocopy)
  • Complete weekly, monthly and annual reports as required
  • Attend department meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and files
  • Participate in promoting the Occupational Health & Safety Policy Statement
  • Participate in health & safety education and training

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective written communications skills
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills
  • Computer skills including the ability to operate spreadsheet and word processing programs
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Team orientated with an ability to work independently
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • Good people skills
  • An appreciation for approval process
  • Problem-solving skills

Eligibility Criteria:

Between the ages of 15 to 30, legally entitled to work in Canada, out of school, not receiving EI benefits, in need of assistance to overcome employment barriers

Duration: Oct. 18, 2010 to March 31, 2010
