 The Town of Espanola requires a

 COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

The Town of Espanola is a vibrant community with a population of 4,817, situated on Highway 6 just 3 km off of Highway 17.  The Town is a full service community and serves as a regional centre for industry, health care, commerce and recreation. The Officer will coordinate the economic and development initiatives in accordance with the strategic plan and council directives. Under the direction of the Clerk Treasurer/Administrator the Officer will work closely with the Chair and members of Economic Development Advisory Committee to research, promote, and implement a full range of strategies designed to promote the achievement of Council’s approved short and long range community development goals.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Five years working experience;
  • A mix of post secondary education and experience in any of the following fields:  economic  and/or community
  • development, business administration, marketing or a related program;
  • Economic Development certification is an asset
  • A successful record in marketing and promotion
  • Strong project management, research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good understanding of the local government decision making process and overall municipal policies and practices
  • Experience in the public sector or industry would be an asset
  • Must be an effective member of a large team
Salary to commensurate with experience; includes an excellent benefit package.
A Criminal Reference Check, recent within two months of the deadline for applications is required.
