Job Description:
Make Poverty History/Abolissons la pauvrété (MPH) Canada seeks a Coordinator for a three-month contract position to work with the Board of Directors on administration, fundraising and e-campaigning. Campaign experience, coalition management skills and financial management experience required. Also required is familiarity with policy issues related to domestic and international poverty.
The Organization:
Make Poverty History/Abolissons la pauvrété is a coalition of more than 600 anti-poverty, international development, health, environmental, aboriginal, faith, youth and labour organizations working together to encourage government leadership on poverty at home and abroad.
MPH has initiated, led and coordinated successful campaigns that have helped mobilize awareness and concern regarding poverty. It is an independent incorporated entity run by a volunteer board and a steering committee of member agencies. MPH is a member of the Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP), which links similar campaigns worldwide. 
Responsibilities:
1. Resource and Revenue Development: Maintain existing funding relationships, fulfill current reporting requirements, and develop new sources of revenue.
2. Financial Management: Oversee budget and cash flow and perform routine bookkeeping duties.
3. E-campaigning: Develop and implement MPH online campaigns.
4. Website management: Prepare website content for communication with members and supporters.
Qualifications:
The Hiring Committee will prefer candidates with experience and knowledge in the following areas: Demonstrated knowledge, insight and commitment to issues of poverty Proficiency in written and oral communications Excellent networking skills, with the ability to work collaboratively Demonstrated financial management skills Familiarity with bookkeeping and website management Bachelor’s degree required.
Fluency in both official languages is an asset.
This position will be based in Ottawa or Toronto.
Compensation
Position is part-time (3-days/week) for three months, with opportunity for expansion and extension.
Salary: $150-$200 a day, depending on qualifications.
