Options for Homes is Canada’s largest delivery agent of affordable home ownership. Now in its 21st year, it creates ownership opportunities for households with incomes as low as $25,000 per year. From the first development in Toronto’s Distillery District, to a new development under construction in Cameroon, Africa, Options’ organizations have created homes for over 6500 households using a unique housing model. Options Toronto is about to break ground on two new projects that together will enable 525 families to own their own homes. Options is at the forefront of Canada’s social enterprise movement.
In this role you will be key to the delivery of Option’s mission and organizational objectives by delivering development projects – and ultimately helping individuals and families become home owners. The focus of the role is development management which ranges from: identifying sites, acquisitions, project conceptual development and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic management of residential development projects
- Develop project concept
- Assess project viability
- Develop project budgets
- Liaise with builder and project partners
- Oversee consultants, contractors and project coordinators
- Coordinate municipal approvals, project documentation and delivery of disclosure statement
- Monitor development processes, overall project scope and manage timelines
- Secure project financing and co-ordinate generation of legal documents
- Coordinate with marketing and sales to create project marketing and sales plans / strategies
- Identify future development sites for acquisition
- Core member of a senior management team responsible for successful project
- Act as the face of the organization to purchasers, providing ongoing project updates (every 6 weeks or as appropriate)
- Prepare/review documentation with third party contract manager for construction mortgage draws (interim)
Qualifications:
- University degree in Urban Planning. Architecture or Engineering
- 10 years of working in planning & development
- 5 years in a senior management capacity
- Knowledge of the real estate development industry
- Extensive experience and knowledge in dealing with financial systems, budgets and internal controls
- Excellent computer skills
