Do you have an extensive background in working with individuals through harm reduction, person-centred and strength based approaches? e4c is excited to be hiring for Outreach Workers, who will be a members of the WEAC Outreach team in supporting community members in accessing basic needs through one-to-one supports.
With support from partnering agencies, you will serve community members in navigating systems and other interlocking program activities. The Outreach Worker is part of the e4c WEAC Outreach Team that provides outreach support services to women accessing the shelter and community members supported by partnering agencies who engage in survival sex. Many of our community members may be experiencing intersecting barriers to their overall health and wellbeing such as: chronic homelessness, intergenerational violence, substance abuse/dependence, racism and gendered violence.
Hours: Full-time: 40 hours per week: may require daytime, evening and weekend work depending on community members’ needs; will require use of personal vehicle and travel around Edmonton area.

In Your Role You Will
Program Operations
- Foster a safe and supportive environment to ensure community members are respected and heard.
- Provide access to basic needs and harm reduction supplies.
- Support and guide community members who are experiencing crisis through utilizing person centered, trauma sensitive and harm reduction approaches.
- Collaborate with e4c teams, volunteers and community partners to communicate information and enhance services for community members.
- Create referrals to external service providers throughout Edmonton.
- Organize and implement special events for community members.
- Respond to follow-up operational requests from the Program Manager, WEAC team members and community stakeholders.
Supportive Community Outreach
- Build and provide follow-up supports on community members’ support plans relating to: housing inquiries, transportation, housing intakes, home visitations, appointment supports, access to government identification, crisis management, emotional supports and additional resources.
- Provide support to partnering agencies to support their community members with systems navigation and other interlocking program activities.
- Support WEAC Outreach and WEAC Care Working teams to assist community members with access to services and supports.
- Operate the Outreach Van and provide harm reduction supplies to community members.
Administration
- Compile accurate and detailed case notes according to agency and legislative requirements.
- Enter statistics and case notes into the program database.
- Complete the drop-in communication log to effectively connect and provide updates to WEAC team members.
Education and Certifications
- Diploma in the area of human services or social sciences.
- Requires use of personal vehicle and valid personal vehicle documents including: valid Class 5 Driver’s License, Proof of Vehicle Registration, Vehicle Insurance (with 2 million dollar liability coverage) and 3 Year Driver’s Abstract.

- Certifications: Standard First Aid and CPR, Suicide Intervention, Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed, De-escalation
Experience
- 2+ years’ experience working with individuals engaged in survival sex.
- Extensive background and experience working with people requiring higher levels of support due to trauma, addictions, mental health, and/or poverty. Full competency and experience with harm reduction, person-centered, trauma-informed, strength based, collaborative, and/or solution focused practice.
- Proven experience and ability to practice relationship-based approaches and use evidence based models of practice.
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, database applications and computer operation.

- Integrity and Ethical Behavior: a clear understanding of professional boundaries, confidentiality, ethical practices and guiding principles of WEAC.
