Employment Terms:

Hours: Up to 32 hours per week, starting May 2nd, 2011.

Wage: $13-15 per hour depending on experience, and program funding.

Posting is open to applicants 16-24 yrs of age only. Reporting to the Program Facilitator and the Centre Supervisor

Responsible for:

• Ensuring that the Youth Leaders are developing work skills, making positive choices, and assuming responsibility for their neighbourhood projects
• Working closely with the staff of their respective agencies to ensure that the program is integrated with the goals and operations of the agency

Main Job duties:

• Identifies ten Youth Leaders to participate in the program
• Schedules Youth Leaders' activities
• Monitors and records attendance
• Ensures that there are a maximum 10 participants
• Designs and supervises work projects
• Works with the Program Facilitator to plan and organize joint Rotary Leadership
• Circle activities (including transportation)
• Organizes the stipend spending trips, and goes shopping with the Youth Leaders
• Works with the Centre Staff, and the Program Facilitator to determine costs for the project, and establishes and maintains a cash flow ( ensuring that all receipts and funds are accounted for)
• Helps to organize Graduation Ceremonies and other special events as required

Assets:

• Experience working with inner city youth ages 10-15
• Supervisory experience or mentoring youth
• Preference given to demonstrated knowledge of inner city issues
• excellent oral and written communication skills
• can work individually as well as cooperatively with others
• creativity and willingness to think of new ways to improve our community
