Quint Development Corporation is a not-for-profit organization which exists to strengthen the social and economic well being of Saskatoon’s five core neighbourhoods through a community economic development approach. Quint Development Corporation is looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to fill the following full time position.

Quint’s Affordable Housing Program provides the opportunity for low-income families to:

  • Own their own homes through housing co-operatives, and/or
  • Rent quality, affordable apartment suites
  • Rent quality, affordable houses.


Duties:

Community Development related duties:

  • Actively engage the community to allow for and encourage active participation;
  • Advise community organizations, applicants and other interested groups about housing programs, eligibility and selection criteria;
  • Conduct interviews of applicants and recommend applicants for selection. This includes
    • determining applicants program eligibility,
    • completing a household budget with the applicant,
    • assessing credit history and
    • undertaking home visits;
  • Provide development and ongoing support to housing Co-operatives and Tenant Association;
  • Access resources related to education of participants.

Technical Housing related duties:

  • Coordinate all aspects of property management i.e.: lease agreements, tenant move-ins/outs, rentalsman hearings;
  • Monitor collection of monthly housing/rental payments;
  • Organize the financing and renovation of housing projects. This includes;
    • budget preparation and management,
    • working with independent contractors and work crew supervisor, and
    • project scheduling;

Administrative duties:

  • Provide financial and other reports for submission to the Manager;
  • Meet as required with the Manager and/or Board of Director’s;
  • Assist in developing other types of affordable housing alternatives;

Other duties as they arise.

Qualifications:

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of community economic and/or co-operative development;
  • Understanding of the issues faced by lower-income families, individuals and neighbourhoods;
  • Experience related to affordable housing;
  • Demonstrated experience working at the community level with community-based organizations, and organizing community volunteers;
  • Minimum Grade 12 supplemented by relevant post secondary education or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Skills:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Experience with budget development and administration;
  • Excellent computer skills; experience working with spreadsheets;
  • Excellent ability to adapt to changing priorities & with adjusting work plans accordingly;
  • Conflict resolution and facilitation skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to develop and work effectively in partnerships with government, business and the community;
  • Ability to work flexible hours (may include occasional evenings);
  • Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle.
