 In Canada, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for 99.8% of all Canadian companies and they employ more than 60% of private sector workers.     The Conference Board of Canada reports that supporting the development of SMEs in cultural or linguistic minority communities represents an important vehicle for job creation and a catalyst for economic diversification. For Québec’s English-speaking communities, small business and self-employment represents an important source of jobs and economic prosperity.     In response to this important opportunity, CEDEC created in 2007 the Small Business Support Network (SBSN).  Since that time, the development of new partnerships has enabled CEDEC to continually increase the range and quality of networking and business development resources that we can offer to Quebec entrepreneurs.     We have experienced great success and generated solid results with CEDEC SBSN and we are set to expand our reach to work with small businesses and entrepreneurs in all parts of Quebec.     The CEDEC Small Business Support Network is a prime example of how our organization is investing in the success of Quebec SMEs and contributing directly to the economic vitality of communities across Quebec.     To support CEDEC to reach these goals, in addition to the Provincial Project Coordinator already posted, a number of new positions have been created:      
 Five (5) Promotion and Awareness Agents who will work with a dynamic team to promote, plan and implement the ongoing development and expansion of CEDEC Small Business Support Network throughout Quebec. These positions will be offered in:

         -   Montérégie
         -   Eastern Townships
         -   Quebec Chaudière-Appalaches
         -   Gaspé/Magdalen Islands
         -   Greater Montreal Area  
A Marketing and Communications Coordinator who will ensure the effective implementation of a marketing and communications strategy for the CEDEC Small Business Support Network
