Are you interested in housing issues and international development? Do you want to gain experience working with overseas organizations involved in the development of low-cost housing, community-level income generation, urban agriculture, housing and land rights advocacy, and/or global shelter networks?
INTRODUCTION
Rooftops Canada, is recruiting 16 interns to work with partner organizations in Bolivia, Chile, South Africa, Cameroon, Kenya and Tanzania. This six-month internship program is part of the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy, facilitated by the Canadian International Development Agency’s Youth Action Division. To be eligible, candidates must have graduated from college or university, be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and be between the ages of 19 and 30. We need candidates with backgrounds in architecture, engineering, urban agriculture and food security, business and finance, economic development, community development, international development, adult education, women’s studies, and/or cooperatives. One position in Cameroon will require fluency in French. Two positions in South America will require fluency in Spanish. Interns will depart in April or May 2012.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, between the ages of 19 and 30. Interns must be graduates of a university degree or a college diploma program, and be currently unemployed or underemployed, and be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Individuals with previous professional experience working overseas in their field and former participants in programs supported by the Youth Employment Strategy are not eligible.
SELECTION PROCESS
