Annual Sale Coordinator (Contract Position)

 Duties

 

Organize all aspects of the Annual Sale which happens November 16 & 17, 2012 and two or three small art show evenings at supporting neighbourhood organizations leading up to the annual sale. 

Organizing includes:

 

• Facilitating a Sale organizing committee

• Promotion of the Sale

            Call for Artists (posters, ads, email, web, notice)

            Sale Advertising (posters, handbills, email, website)

• Ad sales for program guide

• Secure and organize details for the event:

            Application

            Art in-take day

            Food

            Volunteers

            Music

            Honorariums

            Set up, take down

            Program guide booklet

            All aspects of mounting art

                        ensuring all images safely hung

                        proper identification of artist and piece (medium, cost, description)

• Regular communication with applicants.  Ensure they know what the process is. 

• Tracking all income and expenses

• Reporting to funders on event

• Inviting professional artists to be the “One to One Artists”

• Documentation of the event

• Access to a vehicle for the days around the annual sale a definite benefit. 

 

 

Qualifications

 

• Organizational capacity

• Can work independently and with people

• Computer skills

            word processing, Excel, design and layout, web

• Comfortable with deadlines and organizing others to meet deadline

• Experience working with diverse populations

• Experience with or demonstrated interest in community art

• Experience in budgeting and working within a budget

• Experience with organizing an art show or curating an art event

 

Position is accountable to the Board of Directors. 

 

Contract details:  

$5500.00 (paid out on a monthly basis)

Approximately 18 weeks, hours worked will be flexible with the expectation that the weeks heading up to the event will be full-time.
