 Opportunities for Employment Inc (OFE) is a private, faith-based, non-profit organization. Our mission is to assist individuals to achieve self-sufficiency through meaningful, long-term employment. Our Community Office in the Spence Neighborhood offers employment development workshops, individual employment consulting and a job resource centre.

In the last three and half years, OFE’s Community Employment Support Program (CESP) has achieved significant success working with job seekers facing multiple barriers to employment related to their criminal record or involvement with the justice system.

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Employment Consultant/Facilitator to provide employment services to criminalized adult job seekers.
 
Responsibilities
- Recruit participants to our programming
- Assess participants’ skills, interests and barriers to employment
- Facilitate individual and group workshops related to job readiness skills, job search strategies,    
  writing resumes and preparing for job interviews
- Source labour market information and specific job leads; network with employers and community   agencies
- Assist in developing best practices regarding employment services for criminalized job seekers
- Provide support and mentorship to other OFE staff working with criminalized job seekers
 
The successful applicant will have:
- Post-secondary education in a related field or the equivalent in experience
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and solid understanding of barriers to employment
- Familiarity with Stages of Change, Motivational Interviewing, and Adult Learning Principles
- Employment Services experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong general organizational skills
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills; experience public speaking and facilitating    groups
- Working knowledge of community resources providing services to low-income and  
  multi-barrier clients
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, and customer service skills
- Ability to obtain security clearance to correctional institutions
 
Experience in an employment agency, knowledge of CED principles and familiarity with the Spence Neighborhood would be definite assets.
