Job Description/Responsibilities:
As Community Development Officer you will report to the Economic Development Committee.
The applicant will be responsible for:
- Increase the business/economic development activity in our community and region
- Provide the focus & leadership necessary to build a high performing economic development Village and R.M.
- Lead Fundraising activities
- Create website and make updates
- Develop marketing materials
- Organize meetings , agendas, provide financial updates
- Research and apply for grants
- Take Project Leads that are selected by EDC and CDO, as per Community Action Plan
- Create partnerships within the community to create sustainable projects, improve community spirit and enhance moral
- Advertising and Promoting the Community of Val Marie
- Leading volunteers and partners
- Community Asset Mapping
- Help create new exciting projects and ideas to improve our services, business and community environment
Job Qualifications:
- Education: The successful candidate must be a post-secondary graduate, and be under the age of 30 due to funding requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Publisher and Excel.
- The successful applicant should also possess strong leadership and inter-personal skills.
- The candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills.
- A proven ability to make decisions and work in a team environment.
- The ability to define priorities & strategies & motivate volunteers.
- Must be effective in building working relationships & collaborating with partners, stakeholders & all levels of government.
- The candidate must have a Class 5 drivers license.
- Candidates will be expected to provide a reliable vehicle for work related travel.
- A background in Economic Development and/or related experience would be an asset.
The position start date would be November 5th, 2012. Work hours are flexible, 30 hours per week.
