EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Economic Development Officer/Town Planner

The successful candidate will:

-Identify opportunities and challenges for growth in business, tourism, and quality of life

-Review grant opportunities

-Support existing businesses and encourage new business

-Act as liaison with community and regional organizations

-Review existing Municipal, Regional and Provincial Strategic Planning documents

-Promote Deer Lake at trade shows through electronic media and printed documents

-Reach out to potential investors to create interest in potential entrepreneurial projects.

-Assist with town development regulations and assist with permit applications for development.

-Perform other duties as needed.
 

- The ideal applicant will be energetic, willing to learn, have up-to-date computer and new technology skills, a valid driver’s license, be an independent thinker and able to work well with a team.
- Good oral and writing and public relation abilities are essential.
- Post-secondary education and experience related to economic development, office skills, public relations, community development and /or combinations of both will be essential to qualify for this position.
-Salary to be determined by job qualifications.
