Westbank First Nation is comprised of five reserves totalling 5,306 acres. Tsinstikeptum Reserves 9 and 10 border Okanagan Lake and are in close proximity to the City of Kelowna, one of the fastest growing cities in British Columbia. Recently awarded as the “#1 Place to do Business” in the Pacific Region of North America by a KPMG study, Kelowna ranked first among 121 comparable size cities from 11 countries. 

Approximately 20% of WFN lands are developed and are fully serviced with cable, water, sewer and other utilities. The remaining reserves are very desirable for future economic growth as the area responds to increasing demands for development. Westbank First Nation has implemented one of the most comprehensive sets of community laws in Canada that cover the development and regulation of reserve lands. All persons residing or conducting business on reserve are subject to Westbank First Nation Laws.

Through its administration, Westbank First Nation provides a number of community services including: a 63 bed intermediate care facility in Pine Acres Home, daycare and pre-school services at Westbank Child Development Centre, a multi denominational church and a JK-4 school located within the Sensisyusten Community Centre.

Westbank First Nation is seeking a full-time Director of Community Services to join the team in Kelowna, British Columbia.

In this key position, you will chiefly be responsible for managing the Community Services department in all aspects, including planning, developing, and implementing assigned community programs as well as overseeing the daily operations of the department.

The successful candidate will have a Masters Degree in a related health field, social work, or health and wellness.

Westbank First Nation is seeking a strong communicator who can effectively converse with different levels of stakeholders, and interpret and apply policies and procedures.  

We want to hear from you if you have experience in project management, and the drive to successfully oversee those projects. Importantly, you will join the company with strong computer skills.

In addition, your demonstrated leadership abilities will serve you well as you work to encourage others to do their best, and influence stakeholders in matters of funding, new programs and research initiatives.

Candidates with experience working with First Nation organizations will be held in high regard.

A valid BC Driver’s License and acceptable driving record will be required for this role. And the successful candidate must be willing to undergo a Criminal Record Check. Please note that you may be asked to work overtime hours and to travel occasionally.
