A Bus is driving around Winnipeg’s North End and rising awareness about being socially responsible buyers this holiday season. Winnipeg’s Social Purchasing Portal is hosting a Holiday Shopping Tour.  This tour is an exclusive opportunity to support the local economy while doing some holiday shopping and enjoying locally made refreshments.

The SPP Holiday Bus Tour will feature North End businesses with a strong social mandate. Join us in supporting the local economy this holiday season!

The tour will start at Neechi Commons where you will get a sneak peek of the new store! Then the tour bus will drive to Pollock’s Hardware where you will be able to find unique gifts and vintage products, so much more than just hardware items! Then we will head to Cree-Ations, an Aboriginal Crafts and Artist Showcase Store. There you will enjoy fresh bannock and have an opportunity to see firsthand of how those Mukluks are made. Our final destination will be Neechi Foods Co-operative on Dufferin Street.

“This Tour is great opportunity for Winnipeggers to direct some of their holiday shopping towards unique inner city businesses that are making a difference in their communities” says Tana Hendren, LITE’s Executive Director.

The Social Purchasing Portal (SPP) is a project hosted by L.I.T.E (Local Investment Toward Employment) that works as a network and business directory of local businesses that are committed to developing the local economy in a holistic, sustainable, and equitable manner.
