Food Matters Manitoba is seeking a part-time Community Liaison, 20 hours per week, $15-$17/hr based on qualifications for 6 months. The Community Liaison is responsible for connecting with partners of the Manitoba Food Security Network with a particular focus on farm to cafeteria projects and facilitating community development based on recent and current food assessment projects.

Reporting to the executive director, the successful applicant will: Build awareness of Farm to Cafeteria Canada and network among provincial farm to cafeteria partners with a view to enhancing activities Support pilot Farm to Cafeteria schools as needed Support the needs assessment and strategic planning processes of Farm to Cafeteria Canada Liaise with key St Vital organizations to support implementation of the vision outlined in the St Vital Community Food Assessment Support other St Vital activities as time and community need express themselves Coordinate and document two annual meetings of the Manitoba Food Security Network Network with members of the Manitoba Food Security Network as time allows Support the Community Food Assessment coordinator by facilitating activities in food assessment neighbourhoods Liaise with Winnipeg FoodShare Co-op Prepare appropriate funder reporting Identify additional funding for community liaison position Promote the work of Food Matters Manitoba

About You:

  • Have a strong interest in and knowledge of food security issues within Winnipeg 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working with the public 
  • Experience in community development 
  • Knowledge of Winnipeg food security organizations and activities 
  • Highly organized with proven attention to detail 
  • Self motivated and a team player 
  • High problem solving ability 
  • Able to work flexible hours 
  • Able to exercise independent judgment but work well as part of a team 
  • Skills in meeting management and community facilitation are an asset
