The Community-University Institute for Social Research is a University of Saskatchewan research centre whose mission is to facilitate "partnerships between the university and the larger community in order to engage in relevant social research that supports a deeper understanding of our communities and that reveals opportunities for improving our quality of life."

The Strategic Research Coordinator supports the mission by developing research partnerships, delivering training, managing projects, and mobilizing knowledge. Reporting to the Co-Directors, the Strategic Research Coordinator ensures that research undertaken by CUISR is responsive and rigorous and that the research findings are disseminated effectively. 

Responsibilities:

Working with the Administrative Coordinator, the Strategic Research Coordinator has these duties:
 
Research Development
  • Identify University researchers to undertake action-oriented research that meets community needs
  • Liaise with Research Services and other University units to identify research and funding opportunities
  • Coordinate conference and workshop proposals, grant applications, and grant-in-aid research agreements
Project Management
  • Deliver training for student interns and community sabbaticants or research associates
  • Work with CUISR research team and community groups to define research goals, designs, & workplans
  • Maintain lines of communication between research teams and community partners
  • Ensure research activities meet guidelines set out by the University’s Behavioural Research Ethics Board
Knowledge Mobilization
  • Schedule and present Brown Bag Luncheons and other dissemination events
  • Coordinate publication of research reports
  • Communicate CUISR research via newsletters, e-communications, reports, website, and public fora
Administration
  • Attend staff and board meetings and work in collaboration with CUISR Co-Directors
  • Co-operate with CUISR performance review practices
  • Keep up-to-date project files and ensure timely submission of applications and reports

Qualifications

The successful applicant will be able to provide evidence of these capacities:
  • Effective time-management skills
  • Strong oral communication and networking skills, including experience with different levels of government, academia, and community-based organizations
  • Strong written communication skills; experience writing/editing for academic and community audiences
  • Training and experience in quantitative and qualitative research
  • Experience coordinating forums and presentations
  • Proven record of funds development, including experience with SSHRC & CIHR application processes
  • Project management experience with teams of one to six researchers
  • Working knowledge of MS-Office, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and web design

Submitting an Application:

Term: .50 FTE position (20 hours per week); six-month probationary term in first instance
Salary: $1733.33-$1906.66 per month or $20,800-$22,880 per annum
