Contract Duration: Term Position for 4 months with the possibility of an extension
Quint Development Corporation is looking to hire a Communications Coordinator to begin immediately. Working in conjunction with staff and management, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and conducting marketing and outreach activities to community agencies, organizations, and employers. The successful candidate will be able to effectively market and represent Quint’s Core Neighbourhood’s at Work (CNAW) program, its participants, and services to employers.
Responsibilities:
Employer Engagement- 75%
- Initiate, develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing local businesses and industry representatives
- Make cold calls to potential employers- explain the employment support services provided by CNAW to employers
- Plan and make presentations to small groups including potential employers, business representatives and program participants
- Complete reports and documentation on activities as required
- Maintain updated labour market information by researching websites, attending meetings, maintaining contacts with various trade schools, businesses, and professional/community organizations
Public Relations- 25%
- Assist in managing and increasing Quint’s presence on social media websites
- Keep up to date with social and other media trends for nonprofits
- Assist with writing and editing external communications such as print articles, and Quint’s newsletter
- Assist with maintaining Quint Development’s website content, ensuring that it is kept relevant and up-to-date
- Involved in creating press releases and garner media attention for Quint’s programs and events
- Liaise and network by attending community meetings and events
Qualifications
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
- Able to utilize time management techniques to organize and prioritize work
- Work independently and meet deadlines
- Interpersonal skills to work cooperatively and effectively with individuals and groups
- Interact with individuals from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
Education and Requirements
- Understanding of Quint Development Corporation, the Core Neighbourhood’s at Work Program and Community Economic Development principles and practices.
- Relevant post-secondary education and/or experience
- Experience in public relations is desired
- Prior sales, marketing, or job development experience
- Must possess knowledge of trends and issues in local, provincial and national labour market
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with social media platforms
