BUILD Inc. is seeking an Intern for Social Enterprise Development. This position is a full-time position (35 hours per week) at $15/hour for 25 weeks. 

Responsibilities Include:

• Conducting research on social enterprise and preparing written reports
• Assist in preparing a feasibility study and business plan for a social enterprise
• Assist in preparing grant applications 
• Developing and managing budgets
• Attending learning events and conferences
• Liaising with other non-profit organizations in Winnipeg’s inner city
• Attending meetings and participating in conferences calls
• Other duties as assigned

The Successful Applicant will demonstrate:

• Knowledge of, and interest in, community economic development and social enterprise
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with proven attention to detail
• Strong time management – able to multitask and meet deadlines
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Be self-motivated and a team player

Eligibility Criteria:

• Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the time of intake/selection;
• a post-secondary institute, college, university or CEGEP graduate;
• out of school;
• a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee status has been conferred;
• legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations;
• not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits;
• can demonstrate a lack of labour market attachment to field of study (under-employed or unemployed);
• can demonstrate that working in the field of community economic development is a career goal; and
• has not previously participated in a Career Focus work experience placement.
