This is a Canada Summer Jobs funded position; as such successful applicant must be a post-secondary student returning to school in the fall. It would be appropriate for a student in the social sciences or a related discipline. Some related fields of study would be social work, education, community development, inner city studies, education, international development, and recreation
Job Title:
Projects Coordinator
Main duties will include but not be limited to summer program development and facilitation, resource area development, building an asset map of the neighbourhood, and event planning. Individual will report directly to and be supported by the Executive Co-directors.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be able to provide a current criminal record check and child registry check.
- Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to Community Development with an understanding of the challenges faced in underserved, economically challenged, and diverse communities.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, including very strong conflict resolution skills.
- Proficient with basic office and computer use skills
- Comfortable meeting and networking with new people, cultivating and nurturing relationships with current and potential partner organizations and businesses.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is considered an asset
- Current First aid and CPR training are assets.
Successful candidate will show a high degree of initiative, positive “can-do” attitude, be a flexible, team player, and pay attention to detail.
