Two positions are available at Food Matters Manitoba this summer (June-August)! Both positions are 35 hours/week at $12 per hour.

Food Security Education Assistant

The food security education assistant will develop resources and engage with the public about food issues:
  • Coordinate Manitoba Garden Makeover: An Edible Landscaping Competition
  • Develop educational resources for Food Matters Manitoba
  • Develop resources for the Dig In Manitoba website
  • Liaise with the School Outreach coordinator to develop resources and materials
  • Displaying and present at events
  • Other duties as assigned

Food Security Project Assistant

The food security project assistant will connect with “on-the-ground” projects to support food security activities in the Winnipeg area.
  • Work with food security projects and liaise with community partners
  • Coordinate the Food Matters Manitoba AGM
  • Assist the Communications Coordinator and develop stories for the FMM newsletter
  • Assist with Farmers’ Feast 
  • Seek new and liaise with existing Manitoba Food Charter signatories
  • Display and present at events
  • Other duties as assigned

About You:

The successful applicant will demonstrate:
  • Strong interest in and knowledge of community food security issues
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with proven attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to exercise independent judgement
  • Self-motivated and a team player
  • Able to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Valid driver’s licence and occasional access to a vehicle considered an asset

To be eligible for these positions, applicants must have attended school in spring 2013 and be returning to school full-time in fall 2013.
