Two positions are available at Food Matters Manitoba this summer (June-August)! Both positions are 35 hours/week at $12 per hour.
Food Security Education Assistant
The food security education assistant will develop resources and engage with the public about food issues:
- Coordinate Manitoba Garden Makeover: An Edible Landscaping Competition
- Develop educational resources for Food Matters Manitoba
- Develop resources for the Dig In Manitoba website
- Liaise with the School Outreach coordinator to develop resources and materials
- Displaying and present at events
- Other duties as assigned
Food Security Project Assistant
The food security project assistant will connect with “on-the-ground” projects to support food security activities in the Winnipeg area.
- Work with food security projects and liaise with community partners
- Coordinate the Food Matters Manitoba AGM
- Assist the Communications Coordinator and develop stories for the FMM newsletter
- Assist with Farmers’ Feast
- Seek new and liaise with existing Manitoba Food Charter signatories
- Display and present at events
- Other duties as assigned
About You:
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- Strong interest in and knowledge of community food security issues
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with proven attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Able to exercise independent judgement
- Self-motivated and a team player
- Able to multitask and meet deadlines
- Valid driver’s licence and occasional access to a vehicle considered an asset
