The EAL teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a 7 week thematically based summer English as an additional language program for newcomer adult learners.

Role and Responsibilities

• Plan and teach 7 weeks of focused lessons to a multi-level group of adult learners
• Plan course content based on weekly themes and results of student needs assessment
• Plan an outing every Thursday related to the weekly topic
• Carlton teachers need to plan outings with childcare staff; keeping in mind children must accompany parents on field trips.

Qualifications

• Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate from a TESL Canada certified institution
• Undergraduate degree
• Experience working with adult immigrant learners
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to the settlement process for newcomers

Job Details

• Locations: Mosaic – 397 Carlton, & Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church – 1771 Pembina Hwy.
• Levels: Literacy to CLB 1 and CLB 2-4
• Schedule: Monday to Thursday; 9am to 12 noon. 3 hours teaching time + 1 hour team meeting /planning time per week
• Dates: July 8^th to August 22^nd, 2013 [7 weeks]
• Salary: $37.98 per hour or current hourly rate
