Position Overview
An Asset Building Program Coordinator is responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of asset building program as well as the development and implementation of customized asset building programs for Aboriginal community members. The Asset Building Coordinator reports to the Director of Asset Building Programs and is responsible for leading a project team focused on the development and expansion of effective asset building
programming for Aboriginal community members.
Tasks
Under the supervision of the Director and/or Manager of Asset Building Programs:
- Develop a comprehensive and detailed project work plan to expand effective asset building program delivery for Aboriginal community members in collaboration with the project team
- Manage the implementation and evaluation of the program initiatives included in the work plan
- Prepare reports, as required for project funders
- Foster positive collaborative working relationships with project partners
- Ensure that program goals and objectives are achieved
- Ensure that program costs remain within budget
- Recruit program participants for Asset Building Programs; including matched saving programs, Stand Alone Money Management training and/or access to entitlements
- Coordinate and facilitate Asset Building Programs including matched saving programs, Stand Alone Money Management training and/or access to entitlements
- Deliver individual case management to program participants
- As part of a team, develop and implement community outreach strategies to publicize Asset Building Programs
- Other duties as required for the successful implementation of Asset Building Programs
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Excellent project management, program development, program co-ordination and administration skills
- Excellent facilitation and curriculum development skills
- Excellent knowledge and use of money management skills, including financial systems and budgeting
- Strong computer skills in current software including Outlook, MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally (oral and written)
- Familiarity with RESP’s, the Canada Learning Bond and RESP savings incentives
- Experience in fund development, writing project proposals and program reports
- Excellent conflict management skills
- Personal knowledge of or experience working with others living on a low income
- An understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal culture and of Aboriginal community dynamics
- Good working relationships with community organizations serving Aboriginal community residents living on a low-income and other vulnerable community members
- Ability to work with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of inner city issues and Community Economic Development
- Experience in providing programming for youth
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team in a non-profit participatory management environment
