The Community Social Planning Council of Greater Victoria is requesting letters of interest and CVs from contractors interested in working for the organization in 2014/15. The following describes the types of expertise we are seeking. Please ensure you specify how your experience and qualifications meet the skills and expertise we are seeking, along with your remuneration expectations, in your response.
CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS
We are seeking consultants who can work on a self-employed basis with their own office resources to help with anticipated projects of the Council in 2014/15. They will need to be available for at least 14 hours/week for contracting to the Council’s projects. They will need to reside in the Capital Region, be available to attend weekly project meetings at our offices in the Royal Oak area of Saanich, and be in compliance with all municipal, provincial and federal regulations.
CONTRACT EXPERTISE
We anticipate managing a range of projects in social planning, research and community economic development in the coming year. We are looking for people with skills in the following areas, but don't expect candidates to have skills/experience in all these areas (let us know what skills you do have):
Research
• Quantitative data analysis and familiarity with accessing and using a range of data sources such as Statistics Canada, and BC Stats for analysis.
• Analysis of quantitative survey data, demonstrating the ability to summarize findings and identify trends.
• Familiarity with various qualitative analytical methods and tools including content analysis of qualitative data and/or policy.
• Mixed methods research design
• Survey design and administration
• Coordination of multi-stakeholder research initiatives
• Facilitating focus groups and conducting key informant interviews
• Facilitating public consultations
• Transcribing notes of focus groups and key informant interviews
• Ability to translate research findings into policy recommendations and actions for stakeholders
• Familiarity with anti-oppressive and inclusionary research practices (i.e. Participatory Community Action Research, etc.)
Knowledge Mobilization
• Presenting preliminary results of findings to project managers
• Developing public and stakeholder presentations of research findings for consultation
• Preparing draft reports for funders and stakeholders
• Preparing major on-line and media presentations of findings
• Designing communication and engagement plans
• Managing and implementing public and stakeholder consultation
