Qualifications:
In this newly created role, the Financial Analyst will provide primary accounting/finance support to the Director, Finance in the performance of diverse accounting duties and internal control functions to support organizational initiatives. Specifically, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for:
- Payroll — preparation of bi-weekly payroll including the timely and consistent application of payroll related legislation; monthly reconciliations and remittances. Responsibilities also include responding to payroll, benefit and pension related queries, assisting with the preparation of annual payroll budgets, and preparation of T4’s and other year end processes.
- Internal Audit/Control — assist with creation/compilation of financial policies and procedures manual and responsibility for ongoing monitoring. Additionally, ensure appropriate internal controls relative to systems and departmental processes on an ongoing basis.
- Finance/Accounting — Prepare/assist with moderate to complex financial reporting including financial statements and analysis, grant submissions, capital reporting and analysis and regulatory reports (tax and charity returns). Additionally, assist with the coordination and preparation of year end working paper files and financial statements, including liaising with external auditors, assist with the annual budget process and ongoing monitoring of costs to budget, and coordinate and manage lottery events in workplaces and preparation of required reports to Manitoba Gaming Control Commission.
- Special projects and financial analysis, as required.
Qualifications:
You’re a detail-oriented, self-motivated Accounting professional who is comfortable in both structured and unstructured environments. You have exceptional organizational skills and are able to prioritize and complete tasks and meet deadlines. You also have:
- Formal education in accounting through completion or near completion of a recognized designation such as CGA, CA, or CMA.
- Three to five years accounting experience in a computerized environment including hands on responsibility for all aspects of accounting and financial reporting.
- Payroll knowledge and experience is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of financial accounting principles and GAAP, and internal control systems.
- Experience with financial analysis and forecasting.
- Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of staff.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office (especially excel spreadsheets) and accounting software (Great Plains) would be considered an asset.
