POSITION SUMMARY
The Mentoring Program Coordinator position entails responsibility for the direct service mentoring operations of Manitoba Start. All operations will be managed and implemented according to established best practices in the mentoring field and in consultation with the Executive Director or Designate. The incumbent will be responsible for selecting referred newcomers, orientating/training, and screening them for mentorship opportunities within industry, ensuring appropriate fit for matching one-to-one opportunities. Key to the successful implementation of the Mentorship Program is:
- the ability to identify, interview, train, and support employer/mentors, assessing mentorship suitability and mentors’ availability;
- providing follow-up support once each match is made;
- planning and implementing DIT program sessions for mentors, to heighten awareness of mentees’ diverse backgrounds, learning needs, and potential contributions to the Canadian workforce once integrated into their occupation/related fields.
The Mentoring Program Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a high standard of excellence in mentoring and support services for newcomers (mentees) and employers (mentors) of all backgrounds, as well as taking initiative to further this goal by meeting operational goals and objectives, keeping the organization informed of current research and providing timely information relevant to administration, staff and the Board.
The Mentoring Program Coordinator is a high profile and vitally important position representing Manitoba Start in the business and community at large, continually seeking opportunities to maximize learning and engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
The incumbent must:
- Possess a post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources Management, Teaching and/or Sales and Marketing from an accredited institution; an equivalent combination of skills, education, and experience will be considered;
- Be a self-starter with a strong results orientation and demonstrated ability to strategize and implement high value, customized programs and services;
- Have program design and delivery experience with the ability to forge and nurture professional alliances that benefit the learning goals of newcomers;
- Possess well-developed computer skills, including Word processing, database applications, and Internet research;
- Experience in dealing with diverse populations by identifying needs and establishing priorities;
- Own transportation is a definite asset.
