Community Food Centres Canada provides ideas, resources and a proven approach to partner organizations across Canada to create responsive, financially stable Community Food Centres that bring people together to grow, cook, share, and advocate for good food. CFCC works with the broader food movement to build greater capacity for impact and to empower communities to work toward a healthy and fair food system.
We are looking for a Knowledge Exchange Manager to play a leadership role in the area of knowledge dissemination and exchange between CFCC and its partner sites, as well as the broader community interested in learning about the best practices and issues around Community Food Centres and other grassroots food programs. We are looking for someone to join our tight-knit, collaborative team who possesses a big picture analysis of food and poverty issues and can lead a project-- from contributing to vision to managing detail-- that creates measurable impacts . Our ideal candidate has a solid understanding of the world of food programs in Canada, a track record in communicating on and off line in ways that excite people and encourage them to translate knowledge into action.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and coordinate strategies for how CFCC communicates about programs with its stakeholders
- Work with a team to develop a content and outreach strategy for the online Pod Knowledge Exchange (www.thepod.cfccanada.ca) that is integrated with CFCC’s overall communications strategy
- Develop an outreach and engagement strategy for The Pod, as well as webinars, written resources, blog posts and other content
- Manage all technical and system administration aspects of The Pod and liaise with web contractors
- Organize face-to-face learning opportunities and online exchanges for staff at CFCC’s partner sites and other interested organizations
- Contribute to the development of a new category of affiliation with CFCC with its own rationale, benefits, identity and communications strategy
Qualifications
- 5+ years of program and/or communications experience in community-based / non-profit organizations
- University degree in a related area, or equivalent experience
- Thorough knowledge of community-based food programs and understanding of hunger/poverty/food system issues
- Demonstrated knowledge of how to use online tools to support learning, community building and mobilization, and sufficient technical competence to assess tools and play a leadership role in developing online strategy
- Experience with program planning, evaluation and project management
- Excellent writing and communications skills
- Familiarity with Drupal or WordPress, Webex, MailChimp, Google Apps, one or more CRM solutions, audio and video editing software
