Job Scope
We are looking for a certified childcare worker—ECE II and/or ECE III—to provide care for the children of our ‘M’ Program participants.
Career Trek childcare workers are an essential part of the program and are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, secure, and trusting environment that will allow the participants to focus their attention on the programming.
The successful applicants will be dynamic, committed, team‐oriented individuals who like to work with young mothers in an innovative educational setting.
Work will be conducted in designated facilities at the University of Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg, Red River College, and Winnipeg Technical College between 4:oo – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday nights for 20 weeks between October and April.
The ‘M’ Program is a career exploration program specifically tailored for young mothers. Participants get to try 50 careers in 13 fields, helping them to clarify their education and career goals.
Career Trek is a not-‐for-‐profit organization that helps young people to discover post‐ secondary education.
Qualifications
- Certified Early Childhood Educator Level II and/or III.
- Ability to provide positive care for infants under age two.
- Ability to work comfortably with young mothers 14‐21 years of age.
- Be responsible, organized, and energetic.
- Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with participants, staff, and children.
- Be a positive role model by achieving an appropriate balance between authority and friendship.
- Establish and maintain high safety standards.
- Must be certified in First Aid (infant and child) prior to employment.
- Criminal and child abuse background checks required.
