Who is responsible for seeking solutions to social problems? Is it government? Institutions of higher learning? Philanthropic organizations? Business?
Social Innovation takes the position that it's all of the above, that a cross-sector collaboration is our best bet for producing sustainable solutions to social needs. Social Innovation concerns itself less with which organizations or sectors are involved, and more with creative ways to affect social change.
Social Innovators engage in sector cross-over and encourage organizations to concern themselves with leveraging the strengths of appropriate sectors (public, private, not-for-profit) to develop completely new principles, models, and approaches to co-creating a better society.
Where might YOU fit into solving social problems? As OISE students, we share a passion for improving the world through education and equity initiatives. As our world changes, it is time to begin thinking about practical applications for our research and the unique skills we are learning in graduate school. Interested in learning about paths you might take (outside of academia) to reach your goals of affecting social change after graduation?
We invite you to an exciting evening of conversation and discussion. The panel will be followed by "Experiments in Conversation" an interactive discussion format that facilitates attendee input. All welcome!
