BACKGROUND

SEontario.org is a community-driven showcase of social enterprise (SE) and the social economy in Ontario. With a platform created by a collaboration of regional, provincial and national nonprofit organizations, SEontario demonstrates the geographic scope and community impact of SE across the province. The community ownership, design and direction of the portal is represented through the collaborative partnership of the Canadian Community Economic Development Network (CCEDNet),Ontario Nonprofit Network and Pillar Nonprofit Network of London.

CCEDNet is a practitioner-based, membership-driven organization.  Its mission is to help CED organizations across Canada strengthen their communities and find solutions to local problems.

The Network and our partners require a dynamic, communications professional to develop and implement a Communications and Engagement Strategy for SEontario.org 

This is a part-time contract position, 14 hours/week, from March 24 to December 19 2014, with the potential for a contract extension.

SCOPE OF WORK

Working with CCEDNet staff and liaising with collaborative partners, the Communications and Engagement Manager will develop and implement  a portal communications strategy, workplan and evaluation plan, specifically:

  1. create a communication and engagement strategy and branding guide, using CCEDNet’s communications strategy as a template to build on
  2. create key messages for the SEontario.org brand
  3. develop and implement outreach strategies to reach various audiences
  4. develop and a work plan to implement the strategy
  5. develop and implement a comprehensive evaluation plan to measure success and  to continually monitor and evaluate the communication and engagement strategy
  6. prepare a video brief, identifying audiences, creating storyboard outlines
  7. work with collaborating partners to identify revenue generating activities (paid ads, sponsorship, etc.) develop, design, write and publish SEontario.org content and promotional materials,  including tweets, blog posts, news updates
  8. curate the site - sourcing content far and wide from all of our partners, plus finding new ones
  9. build a substantial partners/contact list and create strategies to place content in their communications pieces (piggybacking  on tweets, blog posts, newsletter updates, etc.) to drive traffic to SEontario.org
  10. create channels to receive information from various partners (email etc)
  11. identify events/groups to make presentations to about SEontario.org

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years experience in a communications or marketing role
  • experience in or knowledge of the nonprofit, social enterprise sectors
  • experience creating and updating communications platforms- website, html e-blasts, social media
  • strong web-based writing and editing skills
  • experience in website curation
  • an understanding of curation within the context of nonprofit social enterprises and building the social economy
  • project management experience working with multiple partners

It will be an asset to have:

  • proficiency in written and spoken French
  • experience in graphic design
  • video production experience
  • online event planning experience
  • media relations experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Hourly wage of $28/ hr
  • 14 hours/week
  • 38 week contract from March 24 to December 19 2014
  • Some travel may be required
