Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. is a non profit, community based; Aboriginal led human services organization that provides a range of Aboriginal identified programs and services that focus on wholeness and wellness and that builds on the strengths and resilience of Aboriginal Peoples.
The Butterfly Club is a girl’s only project that focuses on gender, cultural and age appropriate social development for Aboriginal females, ages 9-13.
Youth Facilitator:
Reports to the Youth Leadership & Mentorship Manager (or her designate) and will assist the lead coordinator. The youth facilitator will be responsible for contributing to the team to recruit, develop work plan & curriculum, implement & facilitate program activities, organize and evaluate youth programming related to the program objectives and deliverables.
The required hours are Mondays 12-8pm and Wednesdays 12-8pm.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate is an innovator and motivator with relevant post secondary education and with a minimum of one (1) year experience with demonstrated facilitation experience and experience working with young Aboriginal females. A relevant combination of education and experience will be considered.
The candidate must have demonstrated facilitation skills, community outreach, youth engagement and leadership skills. Experience in facilitating groups and report writing is essential. Communication and creative problem solving, working within specific timeframes and a commitment to cultural reclamation practice are essential.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Preparing activities (getting supplies, contacting facilitators when applicable, arranging transportation when applicable, arranging for honoraria when applicable)
- Planning and facilitating program activities based on program deliverables;
- Orientation and registration of program participants;
- Tracking attendance and progress;
- Workshop report and council report submissions; preparation of the final report following program guidelines of funder;
- Maintenance of face book page
A valid driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract and access to a vehicle will be considered an asset. The successful candidate must provide a criminal record and child abuse registry check.
