As a member of the Management Team of Eva’s Phoenix, the Manager of Youth Support Programs is responsible for the daily operations of all onsite life skills and related (non-employment) programs designed to prepare youth for their transition to independent living. The Manager of Youth Support Programs will ensure the quality of service to participants of various youth support programs at Eva’s Phoenix by overseeing the development and delivery of relevant, youth-friendly, impactful programs in a safe and supportive environment. The Manager will be responsible for: developing and evaluating youth support programs; writing grant applications for youth support programs; supervising a dynamic staff team, including a large suite of volunteers; developing partnerships with external service delivery agencies to enhance current programming; and monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on youth support programs. The Manager will oversee financial management, administration, and community relations for the department. A team player, the Manager will collaborate closely with the Phoenix team on youth service delivery, employment training, and case management.
You are a collaborative big picture thinker, thrive in a fast paced and challenging environment, and bring creativity, vision and leadership to developing current and relevant programming for homeless youth. You have experience in developing and maintaining a broad base of diverse partnerships, including community partners, volunteers and funders. You have demonstrated ability in the creation of compelling documents and presentations and are skilled with program assessment and evaluation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Social Work or related field
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a management position in social service
- In depth understanding of issues related to youth homelessness and the supports and resources youth need to transition successfully to independent living
- Knowledge and expertise related to homelessness including: hostel standards; addictions; alternative, social, supportive and private sector housing; income security; mental health; etc.
- Demonstrated experience in program and partnership development including developing, implementing and evaluating youth programs
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing budgets
- Experience in developing funding proposals and managing accountability to donors, including demonstrated experience with impactful report writing
- Experience with federal, provincial and municipal funders an asset
- Experience working with a large, diverse team and client population
- Demonstrated experience supervising a complex staff team in a unionized setting
- Vast experience and understanding of collaboration in the social service sector
- Strong verbal, written and facilitation skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong level of computer literacy MS Word, Excel and Outlook; Experience with Shelter Management Information System (SMIS) an asset
- High level of energy and enthusiasm to make positive change happen
- Flexibility to work some evenings required. Will share on-call responsibilities.
