Rural Training Coordinator

Purpose: In accordance with Volunteer Manitoba’s mission and vision, the Rural Training Coordinator follows the policies and procedures set out for this department, as well as the organization as a whole. Working closely with the Manager of Training, the Rural Training Coordinator will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating online and in‐person workshops outside of Winnipeg. These workshops are intended for individuals working in the not‐for‐profit sector, Board members and community volunteers. Access to a car is necessary, some travel required. Ongoing administrative duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with regional and community contacts to determine workshop topics, identify facilitators and coordinate all logistics (dates, facilities, catering)
  • Work with existing partners to implement online workshops
  • Work with Marketing staff to Implement an integrated communications strategy to promote workshops in relevant manner
  • Monitor budget and cash flow
  • Serve as a primary contact and ensure appropriate liaison with key community partners (includes handling contracts and invoices)
  • Ensure that workshops are delivered on time, within budget and reflect Volunteer Manitoba’s commitment quality, accessible training
  • Implement an evaluation process to determine the success of the initiative

Secondary Duties:

  • Travel to rural workshops to conduct introductions and to troubleshoot
  • Research potential funding sources
  • Assist the Manager of Training with administrative duties as required

Qualifications

  • University degree in a related field
  • 2‐5 years of experience working in the not‐for‐profit sector

Skills

  • Understanding of community development in a rural context
  • Demonstrates an ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key contacts and stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in current version of Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in the use of online conferencing and webinar software
  • Demonstrates a commitment to community leadership through volunteer roles
  • Willingness to travel and access to a car is necessary
