Reporting to the Director, Programs, the Program Team Lead, Neighbourhoods is responsible for the oversight of UWT’s Building Strong Neighbourhoods Strategy by managing key activities with partners in communities across Toronto, including community based agencies, government, the private sector and donors. As a senior manager, this role also leads a cross functional team and works collaboratively with other internal teams to ensure integration of the neighbourhoods strategy across UWT.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing strategic activities related to neighbourhood renewal and community planning in high-poverty neighbourhoods in Toronto
- Leading and guiding a team of managers to best leverage their skills in bridging the neighbourhoods strategy to fruition
- Developing and fostering partnerships to successfully achieve results
- Working in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure measurement and evaluation activities occur, and that lessons are integrated into the strategy
- Promoting the Neighbourhoods Strategy to internal and external stakeholders which includes preparing and delivering presentations; facilitating workshops, and responding to inquiries
- Ensuring a structured approach to problem-solving, including demonstrating an extensive knowledge of available resources and identifying, analyzing and resolving challenges and risks
The successful candidate will have the following:
- More than five years experience in delivering place-based community change initiatives, community development and managing partnerships or collaborations in the non-profit sector
- Proven experience leading a team of managers and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong understanding of the human services sector in Toronto
- Knowledge of capacity building and evaluation processes
- Budget management and risk management experience
- Proven organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines under pressure, and carry projects to completion with minimum supervision
- Ability to prioritize and delegate appropriately, and deal with changing priorities
- Highly developed analytical skills with ability to conduct research and assess new opportunities, and use independent judgement
- Ability to influence, negotiate and manage contentious issues to resolution with multiple stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage, foster and grow constituent relationships including working with volunteers at all levels of an organization
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and constituent service skills including the ability to work respectfully and inclusively with diverse populations and multiple stakeholders
- Post-secondary education in business management, project management, social services, policy and research, or a related field, or equivalent work-related experience preferred
- Strong communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
