Food Matters Manitoba is seeking an innovative Development/Outreach Coordinator who will be responsible for strategically creating, implementing and revising a Food Matters Manitoba Development Strategy.
The position will begin in summer 2014. This is a three year position, 35 hours per week, $18-$21/hr position based in Winnipeg with three weeks paid vacation and a health care honorarium. Professional career mentorship may be available for a suitable candidate with a strong interest in food security.
Primary Job Duties
- Creating and implementing an operational plan from the existing development plan
- Stewarding and developing our individual and major donor base including annual giving campaign and communications
- Stewarding and developing our donor relationships with organisational partners and providing them with reporting and recognition
- Reviewing the potential of a new fundraising event and coordinating development components of an existing event, Farmers Feast.
- Working with the ED to recruit volunteers for Food Matters Manitoba’s Development Committee.
- Engaging board members and staff in ongoing development work
- Recruiting and engaging volunteers in ongoing development work
- Work with the Communications Coordinator to implement the Development and Communications Plan
- Collaborate with the FMM Communications Coordinator to develop media relationships and opportunities for coverage of FMM projects, highlight existing project activities though development and maintenance of a story bank, development of an annual report, and synchronize social media and other Organisational communications
- Incorporate workplace participation in Dig In towards organisational donations with Food Matters
- Maintain record and reporting including Giftworks database
- Represent Food Matters Manitoba at meetings and during presentations and to partners and the general public and at information tables
- Implement new fundraising activities as identified
- Work with the Executive Director to develop new proposals, sponsorships and grant applications as identified
Experience and Qualifications
- A strong commitment to food security and sustainable food systems
- Two or more years of fundraising, public relations, communications, or equivalent education and/or experience is preferred although professional mentorship may be available for a suitable candidate.
- Enjoy working with people, networking and possess strong interpersonal skills
- Experience with volunteer management, committees, and team building
- Must be creative thinker, resourceful, highly motivated, creative and independent
- Experience writing proposals and creating development plans is considered an asset
- Highly organized with proven attention to detail
- Able to exercise independent judgment but work well as part of a team
- Able to multitask effectively and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with Microsoft office suite, Constant Contact and social media platforms
- Knowledge of and experience with Giftworks development and management is
- Valid drivers’ licence and access to a vehicle is considered an asset including public speaking considered an asset
