As a Community Involvement Associate, you will be part of the Strategic Initiatives team, providing assistance as required to current and emerging engagement programs, including Day of Caring (DOC), Youth United (YU), and other initiatives. The position will also support special projects as required. Specifically, the Community Involvement Associate will work closely with staff of various United Way programs to:
- Assist with managing events, ranging from planning to delivering, to wrap up
- Coordinate aspects of programming (e.g. Days of Caring at Koats for Kids, Community Service awards)
- Provide back up for DOC & YU Managers
- Help promote opportunities for community involvement in the work of United Way
- Keep updated records
- Work with colleagues to determine internal project needs and requirements including timelines, resources and required supports
You possess energy and enthusiasm, an ability to think broadly and address details, strong communication and writing skills, and a commitment to strengthening our city. You also have:
- Relevant post-secondary degree/diploma and/or at least two years of experience supporting and/or coordinating programs and events
- Strong time management skills combined with excellent attention to detail and problem solving abilities
- Comfortable with technology; proficient in MS Word & Excel
- Dynamic and outgoing personality combined with the ability to collaborate closely with staff and volunteers
- Good interpersonal and communications skills
- Flexible schedule – available to work mornings, later evenings, and occasional weekends
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
