The Broadcaster is West Broadway’s community newspaper. Its purpose is to give voice to the interests, struggles and achievements of people in this neighbourhood. Funding for this initiative is generated through the sale of advertisements that appear in single or multiple editions of the quarterly newspaper.

The Advertisement Sales position is responsible for securing funds for The Broadcaster by selling creative advertising options to potential clients.

Responsibilities:

• Seek out and contact potential advertisers
• Work with potential advertisers to arrange advertising options that fit their needs
• Communicate sales progress to the Coordinating Editor
• Refer committed advertisers to the Coordinating Editor

Qualifications and experience:

• Sales experience is an asset
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Access to a computer and phone is an asset
• Knowledge of inner-city and Community Economic Development issues
• Able to represent WBCO as an ambassador and to embody to the greatest extent possible the spirit of inclusion, empowerment and mandate of our organization

Compensation:

This position is paid by commission at 20% of sales.

Term of work:

The length of this term is to be negotiated based on need and availability.
