Community Involvement Manager

We are seeking a Community Involvement Manager to join our team. In this role, the successful candidate will work primarily with the Winnipeg Poverty Reduction Council (WPRC) supporting community initiatives identified by WPRC and assisting with the implementation of the WPRC’s agenda and actions. Specifically, the Community Involvement Manager will:

  • Work with volunteer and staff teams and support project management, research, and evaluation, and organize WPRC events, including the logistics, speakers, and volunteers
  • Assist in the marketing and promotion of various initiatives and strategies, both internally and externally
  • Participate in the planning and ongoing evaluation of initiatives and strategies
  • Conduct secondary research on a variety of issues related to poverty reduction
  • Support WPRC working groups and committees
  • In support of WPRC’s Framework for Action, coordinate and document meetings, provide progress reports on agenda items, maintain accurate and updated database of members, conduct research and write reports, assist in strategic and financial planning and evaluation, and remain informed about local and national poverty reduction initiatives
  • Assist the Community Investment team with other duties

You possess energy and enthusiasm, an ability to think broadly and address details, strong communication and writing skills, and a commitment to strengthening our city.

You also have:

  • A relevant post-secondary degree
  • Two to three years of experience, ideally in a community development capacity in a non-profit environment
  • Experience with program management and coordination, poverty related issues, and research and evaluation
  • Exceptional knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational skills coupled with strong event planning abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with education systems and school settings
  • Experience with action research and program development
  • Knowledge of equity perspectives
  • Cultural competency
  • Awareness of community-based work and business practices
  • Experience with public relations and marketing
