Job Overview

The Program Assistant works with program directors and the EAL Co-ordinator assisting with various direct delivery tasks. The Program Assistant provides support and expertise to enhance program delivery

Role and Responsibilities: Off – Site LINC Program Assistance

  • Assist new students in the EAL program
  • Register new children and adults in the program
  • Support students with referral information to settlement and mainstream services
  • Outreach into the community and identify potential learners, make appropriate referrals to WELARC
  • Monitor student attendance, follow up on student absences and leaves of absence ensuring adherence to agency policy
  • Administer student feedback sessions 2 – 3 times per year
  • Act as a liaison with host organization
  • Participate in team meetings with all programme staff
  • Report on the number of available seats on a monthly basis

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial claim
  • Record and maintain the asset/inventory records and assist with the annual inventory at all sites
  • Record, and maintain all invoices, and other financial records
  • Other tasks assigned by the Director

Qualifications:

  • Office Administration certificate from a recognized educational institution and two years related experience
  • Self motivated, organized and able to manage time effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal, English, oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel)
  • Willingness to work as a team player with collaborative decision-making processes
  • Language other than English, especially Mandarin an asset
  • Ability to flex time as required
  • Clear criminal record check

Job Details:

  • $15.00/hour to start
  • 20 hours per week
  • Schedule to be determined, flexible hours
  • Location – 828 Silverstone Avenue, Fort Richmond with some travel to the downtown office required
