The West Central Women’s Resource Centre (WCWRC) provides services and programming to women and families in the West Central neighbourhood of Winnipeg. WCWRC is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to complete a one year maternity leave contract. Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will ensure that all of the activities of the WCWRC are carried out within WCWRC’s vision, mission and philosophy.

Start Date: December 2014
Salary: commensurate with experience
Time requirement: Full-Time - 37.5 hrs per week
Closing date: Friday, October 17th, 2014

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in articulating WCWRC mission and philosophy both internally and externally.
  • Provide sound financial management to the centre.
  • Develop and implement fund development strategies to enable the centre to continue to carry out its work.
  • In collaboration with the Personnel Committee, manage Human Resources including recruitment, hiring, and supervision of staff.
  • Oversee administration, facility management and risk management.
  • Oversee WCWRC programming development and evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain community networks and partnerships.
  • Prepare reports to funding partners.
  • Report to the Board of Directors regularly on the activities of the centre.

Qualifications Required:

  • A university degree in a relevant field. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment and a strong understanding of the non-profit sector.
  • Experience in financial management including budgeting, reporting and financial accountability.
  • Experience in fund development including grant and proposal writing, and donor relations.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, written communication skills and problem solving skills.
  • A demonstrated understanding of issues relating to oppression, marginalization and the role that social determinants of health have on the well-being of women.
  • A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the philosophies of empowerment and harm reduction, and to the principles of community development.
