Revisioning the Manitoba Harvest Project Coordinator

Food Matters Manitoba is hiring a coordinator for the Revisioning the Manitoba Harvest Project. This is a term position till June 2015. The Coordinator will report to the Program Director. The position is for 35-40 hours per week at $16-17 per hour, based out of the Food Matters Manitoba office in Winnipeg.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Coordinator will play a key role in Food Matters Manitoba’s engagement with local, sustainable farmers in Manitoba. Duties will include:
 
1. Community Supported Agriculture Farms
a. Facilitate the implementation of the CSA Customer Survey and report results to CSA farms
b. Organize CSA Manitoba meetings 
​c. Support a marketing project with CSA Manitoba
2. Direct Marketing Farms
a. Liaise with direct marketing farmers and organizations
b. Research issues related to direct marketing farms
3. Winnipeg Food Hub
a. Identify appropriate partners
b. Work with partner agency or business to implement pilot project
4. Evaluation
a. Complete CSA evaluation
b. Work with other FMM staff to facilitate evaluation of Revisioning the Manitoba Harvest Community Projects
c. Compile a final project report
5. Other
a. Organize logistics for a Food Matters Manitoba Farm to Plate Advisory Committee
b. Support project partners to implement Passing on the Gift initiatives
c. Identify future funding opportunities
d. Assist with other tasks as required

ABOUT YOU

Essentials
  • Combination of education and experience in a relevant field (community development, agriculture, food security)
  • Experience in: Project management and reporting; Community development; Evaluation)
  • Knowledge of issues related to direct market agriculture and CSA farms
  • Must be creative thinker, resourceful, highly motivated, creative and independent
  • Highly organized with proven attention to detail 
  • Able to exercise independent judgment but work well as part of a team 
  • Able to multitask effectively and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment 
  • Knowledge of non-profit sector
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
Assets
  • Business and business planning skills 
  • Knowledge of Manitoba food security community
  • Media and communications experience
