Purpose: In accordance with Volunteer Manitoba’s mission and vision, the Training Manager follows the policies and procedures set out for this department, as well as the organization as a whole. The Training Manager strengthens the not ‐ for ‐ profit sector in Manitoba by building partnerships with facilitators, funders and community to develop and carry out an annual calendar of capacity building workshops. In addition, the Training Manager anticipates and understands the sector’s needs by staying up ‐ to ‐ date on current trends and training tools/methods.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Management & Development:
- Plan, manage, implement and evaluate the delivery of the annual urban and rural training calendar
- Plan, manage, implement and evaluate special events
- Plan, manage, implement and evaluate and the delivery of customized contract training to client organizations
- Facilitate workshops in core topic areas including Board governance and operational management
- Develop learning objectives for all workshops
- Evaluate potential and existing workshop content
- Evaluate facilitators and provide feedback as needed
- Promote Volunteer Manitoba’s training services and special events in the community
- Work closely with the Community Development & Training subcommittee (participate in meetings, carry out action items and update strategic planning documents)
Partnership Development
- Build and maintain an inventory of speakers, trainers, facilitators, and consultants that have expertise in the non ‐ profit sector by networking, liaising, and conducting outreach
- Develop diverse partnerships and collaborations with key contacts of not ‐ for ‐ profit organizations and other training centres
- Develop partnerships with educational institutions that enhances the delivery of Volunteer Manitoba’s training services province ‐ wide
- Seek out new funding opportunities, write proposals and maintain existing funding partnerships
Organizational Management
- Provide orientation to new staff and volunteers
- Work closely with the Communications & Outreach Coordinator to keep all print and online information up ‐ to ‐ date and to highlight department info in promo materials
- Work collaboratively within a management team to achieve strategic priorities
- Develop, monitor and submit budgets and reports as required
- Write reports and promotional materials as necessary
- Manage facilitator and custom training contracts
- Manage workshop registrations
- Maintain audio ‐ visual and other training equipment
Qualifications
2 ‐ 5 years of experience in the areas of:
- Adult learning and/or training & development
- Program and organizational management in a not ‐ for ‐ profit setting
- Post ‐ secondary degree or diploma in commerce, community development, adult education or related field
Skills
- Well ‐ developed analytical and problem solving abilities and innovative
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency using online tools and platforms (MailChimp, Fluid Surveys, JotForm)
- Ability to meet deadlines and multi‐task
- Strong commitment to superior service, organizational growth and community profile, stakeholder relations and financial accountability
- Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with diverse community stakeholders
- Demonstrates a commitment to community leadership through volunteer roles
Compensation: $38,000 ‐ $43,000 annually (full‐time salaried, 37.5 hours/week). Employer supported health plan and pension. Free indoor parking.
