Located in Winnipeg’s Central Park neighbourhood, the Winnipeg Central Park Women’s Resource Centre (WCPWRC) has been supporting women and families in the community for seven years through skill building, peer support and information sharing. The Centre has become an important place for people to connect. While all community members are welcome, WCPWRC largely serves newcomer women and children who have been living in Canada for less than 10 years. WCPWRC has created a new term position, the Fundraising and Operations Coordinator, to complement its current team of two staff and numerous active volunteers.

POSITION: Fundraising and Operations Coordinator (FOC)

WCPWRC will be focusing the next year on enhancing its fundraising and organizational capacity. The Fundraising and Operations Coordinator will take a lead role on fundraising efforts for the organization including grant writing, communications and event planning in order to increase the sustainability of the Centre. A secondary purpose of the position is to provide operational support and development to help the Centre build its internal capacity, effectiveness and efficiency.

Term Position: Eight Months                  Start Date: January 5, 2015                 Part Time (24 hrs/wk)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising
Prioritize and carry out the organization’s fundraising plan

  • Actively research and develop grant applications for potential funders
  • Build and maintain connections with donors and funders and assist with annual fundraising event

Organizational Effectiveness
Enhance the operational functions of the Centre

  • Improve the effectiveness of administrative procedures and supports
  • Assist in meeting the general administrative needs of the Centre

Financial Management
Assist with the daily financial operations of the organization

  • Issue cheques for approved expenses and make and track deposits

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Commitment and connection to the mission and vision of WCPWRC
  • Knowledge of the neighbourhood and experiences of newcomer women and families
  • Two or more years of experience in the nonprofit sector
  • Experience in grant writing and fundraising
  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma
  • Ability to communicate in written English effectively and creatively
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Budgeting and basic accounting skills and experience
  • Self-motivate and self-directed
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • The ability to orally communicate in multiple languages is an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires some flexibility within a weekly and monthly schedule in order to facilitate meeting deadlines and attending occasional meetings that may occur outside a set schedule.
