Community Futures Winnipeg River (CFWR) is a non-profit organization that provides business, economic and community development services to the North Eastman region. CFWR is seeking a highly motivate professional who will be responsible for projects and events, corporate and regional promotion and community economic development service delivery.
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Community Economic Development (CED) & Marketing Coordinator is responsible for CED service delivery and marketing functions of the corporation. Primary responsibilities include project management, marketing, special event coordination and providing consultation and planning services to organizations and businesses in the region.

Community Economic Development | Manage, coordinate, and/or partner with groups on special projects related to community economic development. |
Provide counsel and research/planning assistance to community groups on local CED projects and initiatives. | |
Facilitate strategic/annual planning sessions with organizations within the region. Assist with the development of planning documentation. | |
Assist with the preparation of feasibility studies and business plans for community projects. | |
Maintain a working knowledge of and use financial/other programs to access maximum resources for the region. Assist community groups in the preparation of funding proposals for community projects. | |
Provide counsel and training to community groups in topic areas to strengthen governance and operations of nonprofit corporations. | |
Facilitate regional meetings to promote communication and collaboration among communities in the region. | |
Encourage and support the establishment of new organizations and groups that enhance local social and economic development. | |
Assist communities in their efforts to recruit, integrate and retain new residents and visitors. | |
Special Event Coordination | Oversee and take the lead role in organizing special events sponsored by the Corporation including but not limited to the Annual General Meeting, open houses, training events, and an annual Small Business Week event. |
Attain input from all staff during special event planning. | |
Develop and maintain an action plan and budget for each event that outlines event objectives, key tasks, timelines, persons responsible and required resources. | |
Marketing and Visibility | Develop and oversee the CFWR Annual Marketing Plan. Attain input from all staff during marketing planning. Plan includes marketing of CFWR and the North Eastman Region. |
Conduct marketing activities identified within the CFWR Annual Marketing Plan. Request assistance from other staff as required. | |
Prepare and distribute digital and print marketing materials. | |
Maintain and regularly update CFWR website to ensure that all information remains current. | |
Oversee the CFWR Facebook page and maintain a strong social media presence for the company. | |
Prepare and distribute the Corporation’s electronic newsletter on a quarterly basis. | |
Identify and implement marketing initiatives to promote the SE Program throughout the region as required in SE Agreement. | |
Ensure an adequate stock of Corporate/program materials and handouts are available in the office and for distribution. | |
Liaise with training providers and widely promote available training opportunities to clients, groups and communities within the region including, but not limited to World Trade Centre Winnipeg, Entrepreneurship Manitoba, Community Futures Manitoba and Volunteer Manitoba. | |
Maintain a binder of all media coverage of CFWR clients and projects. | |
Communications and Reporting | Communicate regularly with staff and the Executive Director on activities undertaken. |
Enter information related to activities into the TEA database on a quarterly basis. | |
Enter relevant information into the monthly Activity Report for the Board of Directors. | |
Respond to general business/community development enquiries and information requests. | |
Aid in reception and administration related duties as required. | |
Participate in planning and implementation of corporate events, projects, meetings, and other activities. | |
Other | Carry out other activities and duties as assigned by the Executive Director. |
Participate in cross training of other staff roles and cover duties of other staff members as required. |
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND OTHER QUALITIES
- Post-secondary education related to job duties is an asset
- Knowledgeable about nonprofit corporations and small businesses
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience in client counselling is an asset
- Marketing skills and experience – internet based marketing knowledge is an asset
- Experience with project management
- Experience with program/event coordination
- Knowledge of project, event, strategic and annual planning processes
- Experience facilitating group work
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong commitment to teamwork
- Self-motivated and independent in managing workload
- Commitment to maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs, HTML (for website) and the internet
- Ability to maintain professional, respectful working relations with other staff, board members, and clients
- Valid driver’s license
Starting Salary: $38,000 - $47,000 depending on qualifications
