Who is Family Dynamics?

Family Dynamics is a private, accredited, not for profit social service agency that designs and delivers programs to meet the diverse and specialized needs of families within Winnipeg. Founded in 1936, our organization has a proud history of providing:

• Counselling that helps individuals, couples and families find new ways to cope, heal from trauma such as domestic abuse, and navigate through life changes.
• In-home family support services, available to all Winnipeggers, when key care givers within a family are in need of emotional support and encouragement as well as practical assistance with child care, household management and parenting.
• In-home family coaching to increase parents’ knowledge, skill and confidence ensuring better outcomes for children.
• New strategies, resources and coaching for child care staff who are attempting to understand and meet the needs of a child who struggles with behavioural/social/emotional challenges.
• Family Resource Centres located in subsidized housing communities that develop natural circles of support and empower parents to find their voice and assume leadership roles within their families and their communities. Tenant initiated programs address community priorities and increase critical life success factors for children and youth.
• Helping refugees with multiple barriers transition to their new country and city, find employment and bring opportunity and a sense of community to their families.

Family Dynamics administers an annual operating budget of over $6 million dollars annually, impacting the lives of thousands within our community.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the implementation of the long term vision and mission of Family Dynamics Inc. The successful applicant will bring a combination of social service acumen, visionary leadership, financial and administrative skill, as well as the ability to build and enhance relationships with our key funders and inspire the citizens of Winnipeg to become advocates and financial supporters.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Vision and culture - Family Dynamics Inc., seeks a dynamic leader who will inspire members of the agency to continuously strive for excellence in this well established and highly respected community organization.
• Human and financial management - Direct the human and financial wellbeing of the agency.
• Program oversight - Guide and support leaders who direct programs that make a difference in the daily lives of thousands of Winnipeggers.
• Funder relationships - Maintain and enhance key relationships with multiple levels of government, the United Way of Winnipeg and private foundations.
• Agency awareness and community appeal - The ability to envision and develop the marketing and fund raising initiatives within our community.

Desired Skills or Experience:

Your credentials will include a recognized university degree with emphasis on public administration, business, management, health care or social work. You will have ten (10) years experience in the field of social service with at least five (5) years in progressive leadership roles.

Your personal strengths will demonstrate a focus on team building, employee and community capacity building, excellent written and oral communication abilities, strong public relations acumen, union negotiation experience, and a history of organizational leadership.
