Action/2015 is a movement of people who believe that 2015 can be a pivotal year to change the future of our people and our planet. Our movement is made up of hundreds of organizations, networks, individuals, and social movements that are building a campaign to exert public pressure on our leaders to commit to ambitious and transformative action to end poverty, address inequalities and ensure sustainable development in the intergovernmental negotiations that will conclude in 2015.

Introduction:

Throughout 2015 action/2015 will mobilize people around the world at critical decision making points. We will ensure that when political leaders meet to take decisions this year, they will feel the pressure of millions and millions of people calling on them to take ambitious action to secure a better future for people and planet From the organization of stunts in Bamako and Paris, to youth delegations visiting their governments in Kenya and Argentina, to social media campaigns informing and inspiring the public to take action, action/2015 partners will be delivering the message of the campaign to people around the world through a variety of campaigning activities. Together, as a global movement of citizens, we will raise our voice today for the generations of tomorrow.

Action/2015 is seeking to recruit a campaign intern that will support, develop and manage administrative, communications and information systems to service the global coalition to deliver transformative campaigning activity in 2015.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the heart of an unprecedented global effort to build a global citizen’s movement calling for transformational change, and to enable the delivery of an impactful campaign through multilingual tools and materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative Support:

  • To manage (and develop where appropriate) appropriate administrative systems for the action/2015 Global Hub.
  • Manage international teleconferences, draft agendas, accurately record discussions and communicate outcomes clearly and effectively.
  • Maintain campaign registration database, accurately recording email lists, shared calendars and other tools.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as they arise.

Information and Communication Support:

  • To support the Global Hub to develop and maintain effective information and communication services across the action/2015 global coalition engaging the full range of actors and stakeholders effectively. (e.g. draft newsletter or blog articles, draft internal email communications, etc.)
  • Support the development of campaign tools, resources and promotional materials for effective knowledge sharing, campaigning, networking and resource mobilization (e.g. campaign fliers, one-pagers, etc.).
  • To perform such other responsibilities as may be required from time to time in order to ensure the smooth running of the Global Hub.

Action/2015 network development & engagement:

  • Support with maintenance and updates of action/2015’s membership databases.
  • Undertake network mapping activities and identify strategic networking for the campaign.

S/he will report directly to the action/2015 Network & Administrative Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Studying or recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in
  • International Development, Public Policy, International Relations, a related field or related work experience;
  • Good editing and proofreading skills;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability and experience working in a team collaborating virtually;
  • Proven ability to plan and achieve results under time restraints;
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Fluency in English required. Fluency in Spanish and/or French a plus;
  • A strong sense of commitment to the mission and objectives of action/2015; and
  • At least a 3-month commitment desirable.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • At least a 3 months commitment;
  • 37.5 hours per week of campaign tasks;
  • Report to the action/2015 Network and Event Officer;
  • Remote-based work; internet connection needed.
