This Community-University Research Alliance (CURA) is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and received $1,000,000 over a 5-year period (2011- 2016). This CURA uses a participatory action research design, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative measures, to facilitate a capacity-building and community- development approach to address issues of poverty and social inclusion for psychiatric survivors. An annual conference is used to gather input from the community at large to promote understanding at all levels of society of issues relevant to poverty and social inclusion. These annual conferences are used as a forum to identify problem areas of poverty and social inclusion for psychiatric survivors and develop realistic action plans with the community in finding solutions.
The 5th and and final Forum will be held on October 28-29, 2015. Final results from the research will be presented in addition to numerous presentation from other researchers, students, and community members. The annual forum will also feature keynote speaker Robert Wilton.
