Based in Toronto, Ontario, ACCESS is a Canadian registered charity granting micro-loans where the abilities, skills and commitment of the applicant together with the strength of the business plan are key decision criteria. We are seeking an individual who has the ability to motivate and empower others and is passionate about making small business dreams a reality. This is a unique opportunity to join a small team working to build and expand an organization that is becoming a key player in promoting economic development in the GTA. The Program Coordinator will interact with various stakeholders and team members, and will have the opportunity to take on leadership and project management roles.

Activities & Responsibilities:

The Program Coordinator will provide support to loan applicants and recipients and assist the various Loan Review Committees in their evaluation cycles and lending activities. The individual will also be responsible for recruiting, training and managing volunteer mentors and Loan Review Committee members. He/she will work closely with other Access team members in executing various other organizational objectives including program evaluation, marketing and training.

Duties include:

  • Execute all client intake duties.
  • Respond to and address client inquiries from potential applicants as well as loan recipients.
  • Support Loan Review Committees by attending meetings, training volunteers, scheduling interviews, assisting with application processing and follow-up. Act as back-up for the Chairs of each Committee.
  • Coordinate internal support programs for clients including the mentorship program and external referrals.
  • Develop and execute outreach strategies.
  • Participate in local community events and present the ACCESS micro-lending program.
  • Assist in executing program evaluation initiatives on an ongoing basis – which includes managing the client database, reporting on social impact metrics and capturing client success stories.
  • Liaise with organizations and research and report on industry developments, best practices and program opportunities as needed.
  • Assist with compilation of the Annual Report.
  • Assist with and attend Access events.
  • Seek out and assist in designing and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients, volunteers, team members and other stakeholders.
  • Provide support to board committees as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director. 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Required:

  • University graduate with minimum 2 years work experience that includes responsibility for building and maintaining relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as sensitivity and experience in dealing with issues of poverty and marginalization.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with various socio-economic and ethno-racial communities.
  • Passion for community economic development, and strong interest or experience in entrepreneurship.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and presentation skills.
  • The ability to work as a member of a small, closely-knit team.
  • Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm and professionalism in various situations and with different stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with micro-lending models and social impact evaluation metrics.
  • Experience with, or knowledge of graphic design, web management or photography.
  • Driver’s licence and access to a vehicle are highly recommended. 
  • Analytical and research skills an asset.

Please note that a flexible work schedule is required for this position as some meetings and events occur in the evenings and on weekends.
